    Hey quick question about the 5R110, is there an electrical problem than can cause the excursion to only go forward? It lunges in park and every other gear it tries to go forward. I feel like the trans is shot but I want to exhaust some alternate possibilities before I replace. Seems like older transmissions when this happened the cause was some set of forward clutches seizing up or melting together. Thanks for any help you could give.

    You are a transmission expert. i have question for you I been wondering about 4R100 RWD can be changed by tail end of transmission, and put transcase on it?
    My truck is 2000 7.3 powerstroke F350 4x4.

    Hello Mark,

    I need your help with drivability issue of my 2000 Navigator, 5.4L, 4r100 transmission with 210,000 miles. There is no check engine light or pending codes or flashing OD. I have notice this in summer but it get worst with cold weather in MN.

    Truck struggle to run when put in to reverse or drive from Idle or at signal. Don’t die but idle surge between 400-800 rpm with shudder/vibration. After the initial struggle, seems to upshift/downshift ok.

    Spark Plugs were changed around 150,000 miles. 1st Transmission fluid and filter were changed (not flushed and didn’t drain the TC) by my by dropping the pan around 132,000 miles. 2nd fluid were changed around 150,000 miles by Valvoline through dipstick tube, fill and suck it back method. (I should have changed the fluid around 180,000).

    I am thinking to start with transmission fluid change by dropping pan, draining TC and replace filter.

    Hey Mark I see your the transmission expert on this site. I have a e4od question for you. I had my transmission rebuilt awhile back, and it was supposed to be the best, I have since replaced the accumulator valve body with a bts. And the shifts are still weak. I then swapped to a .500 boost valve hoping that would help and it' the exact same thing. Put a gauge in the test port and at wot it goes to 200psi but then slowly drops before the shift happens to around 125 i have ran out of ideas and was hoping you could help thanks.

    also what would be the best option to get e40d and 4r100 ,i have both e450 02 and this f super duty 97,im plannign to tow.
    last question what does more pressure on truck : towing loaded trailer or overweight payload ?

    Hi Mark,ive been reading some of your posts and didnt find solution for my issue with shift-rite transmission rebuilt 7.3 f super duty 97.i have it for less than year and it feels like falling apart inside.
    0 to 30 mph goes very slow unless i full throttle
    between 55 to 65 mph with headlights on it starts to jumping between 3-4th gears for some reason.
    and generally i cant hold up 70mph unloaded loaded ,it used to go 75 without issues when i finally got it from them this spring.
    also any uphill struggling so much,goes about 15-25mph slower than the rest of traffic.
    the rest of truck is fine.
    if you ever respond i would be grateful,im not sure if i have to spend another 4k on some reputable shop transmission or just buy another vehicle.

    Mark, you and I have spoken before in years past, you've been a huge help before and I was hoping to bug you about a project I'm working on. I've built several very high HP engines (1400+ hp triple turbo 6.0's) and a common issue is controlling the 5r110, so a lot of guys swap to a 4r100. I'm looking at running a transmission controller that can run 4r70w and AODe transmissions. My question is, do you know if it would be possible to "re-pin" or change the plug for a 4r70w and wire it to the 4r100? I know it's an oddball question, it's for a racing application, not the run of the mill street stuff...but I haven't found anyone who is familiar enough with the transmissions to tell me if electronically/mechanically/hydraulically this is possible.
