There are quite a few matte/satin clear coats on the market now...even Duplicolor has one that is only $24/qt. I would definitely shoot a couple coats of clear over the red primer to seal it up. I am no longer associated with Pickups Limited so I can't speak to their events schedule. I did make the Fords & Friends picnic last June at Grape Day Park however, seemed like they had a nice turnout.

    Hey Bud,

After a lifetime of high-end paint jobs, I am done sweating rock chips, parking strategies, and waxing. My Wife of 44 years nearly killed me when I sold our last '49. I promised this one would never be sold. I shot it in Red Primer and as it turns out, Rustoleum Rattle Can Primer matches perfectly for touch-up.

I've heard it isn't wise to keep a car in Primer as it holds or allows moisture (How 'Bout the Rain We be Gettin!) to work the metal. This is a rust-free Dessert vehicle.

With our climate, and because it's garaged, is this still a problem? If so, do I need to shoot something over it? Don't wanna, but if I need to.......

I was on your Club Site recently and noted the upcoming Events. Do you typically go to Bates Nut Farm (April - My Town) or the Grape Day Park events in Esco? I plan to be there.

Hey Chuck, got a question. I was looking at an older R&C magazine and saw a reference to Joe Eddy and his F100's. I had forgotten about his trucks [and hot rods] and wondered if he is still around CA. Do you know? Would you answer by emailing me? Had a computer problem and lost all my outlook info. Joe

I cannot recall if I have used filler on top of the KBS Rust Seal or not. If I had an occasion to fill some pitting I would not hesitate to fill over the KBS...I would use a scotchbrite pad to scuff up the KBS and give it some tooth, then prime and then add the filler. The reason that I would prime would be to ensure that when I sanded the filler that I did not inadvertently cut through the KBS...once I go to the primer I would stop sanding. Hope this helps.

    Hi Charlie -
New to FTE - referred by Curt Loftis on one of the FB f100 pages. I have a '53 F100 that I am stripping down for a Mk8 Rear IRS (which I have already sourced), and a new front IRS as well. Was planning on a CV '03 or later front IRS 'cause I understand they are a "good" swap. The guy on FB said you are a wealth of knowledge on the CV front ends on "53 - '56 F100's. Have read your 2008 thread on the subject, and wondered if you have additional information (diagrams, measurements, etc) that you can point me to? Many thanks Lynnhowlyn in St George UT

I assume that you are referring to the covers on the 460...those ARE rather hard to find these days especially in that condition. I found those years ago on ebay, while I haven't been looking for another pair I have to say I haven't stumbled across any either.
