    I have a 52 F6 I've been working on slowly over the last year, new brakes, tires, rebuilt the carb, new fuel pump etc. The body and frame have no rust having spent 57 years on a farm here in AZ. My question is this, what transmission swap is good for this big rig? I have the 4 speed non-sync and the dual speed axle. I keep grinding gears all the time and it's getting tiresome. I really don't mind the hard ride but I sometimes get stuck between 3rd and 4th not being able to get it to shift up.
    I have read about the T5 but will that work for a big truck like ours? Any ideas?

    I am at a cross roads with a couple different truck cabs that i have found and I need to know what the differences are between these different series. It seems like you know a lot of information on the Fords so I appreciate any information that you can share. I am restoring a 1966 F250 4x4 and I am looking for a good cab yet for the restoration. I had a yard in Colorado send me a cab but he sent me an N series cab that definately won't work. So I resumed the search here in Pa locally and found a T series cab. it looks identical to an F series cab but I need to find out if there are minor differences, mounts, tranny opening, etc.... it is the standard roof line, not the raised one. Please let me know if you know anything about these T series cabs. bryan

    Hey Bob,
    I'm new to the forum, and saw some posts you've made leading me to believe you know a bit about my truck. I've torn down the clutch in my '51 F6 dump truck and at somewhat of a loss as to where to get new or rebuilt parts - clutch plate, thow-out bearing, and pressure plate. There seem to be a lot of sources for F1 parts, many of which I know are the same, but the clutch? Got any infor that would help? Flathead V8 with non-sync 4-speed and 2-speed rear axel.

    HI I saw the pics you posted of a 332 motor. Do you have any specs of that block in the 368 lincoln version? Are they basically the same block? Any interchangeability of parts?

    3 part answer - text limited in messages I guess.

    Sorry for the delay, have had some things going on at home and haven't been on the computer much the past week.
    Yeah, I did a lot of research on "split rim or 2-piece rim" wheels known as widowmakers, and vintage 20" truck wheels in general. My truck is a farm truck out of Nebraska, so is relatively rust free, even the rims. Just the same I thought I'd look for replacements. You're right the 5x8" pattern is a tough find. And even when you find them you need to be careful. I spent 2 years off and on looking at a lot "lock ring" truck rims, and pased on them. You have to be careful with the type that have the center portion (with the bolt holes) riveted to the rim vs. welded. Water can get in between the 2 riveted pieces and rust. Watch for expansion between the 2 pieces, if rusted they'll start to arc between the rivets. And who knows what the inside of the rim looks if it still has a tire mounted.

    Have you had to deal with changing the widow makers? I need a new set of wheel for my F-4. Not easy to find for dually so far...
