I read your post on fixing slop in your shifter lever with interest. I was wondering what symptoms this corrected? Mine (a 1987 f-150 4 x 2 with 4.9 and T18) is rattling or grinding up the shift lever. If you put your hand on the shifter and move it you can make it go away. Thankfully it doesnt do it in 4th. It seems like the forks are lightly touching a spinning gear. Do you think the repair the you outllined would correct this?
    Thank you - Steve
