Hey Jrock this is just me but I would get a bed that fits a 53'-56' for the simple fact that if your running boards don't match up thats most likely the first of many issues you'll have with the future of your build. I would try to sell the bed you have now and just be patient and find a 53'-56' or you could always budget one piece at a time over a few months i.e. the left bedside, then the right bedside a few months later etc. also if your tailgate is in good shape it should fit a new 53'-56- so I would keep it just my two cents keep up the good work

Hey bro! So I just found out that my bed is actually a 57 or newer, so my rear fenders sit a few inches higher than ours. MEaning they don't line up with the running boards!! Ill show pics. You think it's easier to grind off the original fender bolts, and re drill and mount new ones lower to meet running boards, OR, get a 54-56 bed?

Hey man!! love the pics. I'm writing you cuz we both have a 55'. I just acquired mine this week and it's my first build. I have alot of stuff already done to it, but most of the body work is in pieces. The trick for me is putting it together without having seen it come apart! If you have any tips or tricks for me I would love to hear! check out my pics in my gallery...
