Did you remove the valve covers to verify if it has solid lifters? Any pictures of them if you had the covers off? No update on your post asking about engine ID.

I have not purchased valve cover gaskets yet so that I can pull a valve cover and check that - I DID buy a oil pan gasket but to remove it i also have to remove the dip stick piece going into the side of the pan and it is bolted to a head/exhaust bolt so I have decided not to do it, at least for a while anyway.

I have decided to slow down on tinkering on the truck. It is in really good condition right now.

*No is the answer to that question

Thank You

Going by what the original owner said that this engine came out of a 1965 Police Interceptor..... he may have misremembered the Year, I think the 66 PI motors came with Hydraulic Lifter like this engine has but also the Non PI motors in 66 came with Hydraulic Lifters as well?

From all records that have been kept on these engines it is very unlikely that a 1965 PI car received a Hydraulic Lifter 390 FE (?)

Another member let me know the mfg date of these heads and I already have the mfg date of the Engine Block (below)

Heads: 4 H 18 - Made August 18, 1964 - C4AE 6090G
Oil Filter Deck: 5D13, which is the Engine Block build date of April 13, 1965
