Looking at F-250/350s for towing a 10,000 lb travel trailer & other farm related things but daily driving on highways & gravel roads in Manitoba. Test drove a 2022 F-350 that rode very stiff — was advised to drop tire pressure which helped some. Curious whether with the right springs, shocks, and tire pressure an F-250 or F-350 can approach F-150 Tremor ride quality unloaded, or whether that's just not realistic given the heavier suspension design especially the heavier F-350 front. Also seen mentions of Sulastic shackles and Carli/Deaver progressive leaf springs as options — has anyone gone that route specifically for daily ride improvement rather than lift or off-road use? Interested in real world experience, not just theoretical — particularly from anyone who dailies their SD without a load most of the time. Lastly, does it make any difference between 2017, 2019, 2022, F-250 or F-350 when softening the ride?

Here ye here ye fellow idiots,

I will start by saying, I am in no way giving mechanical advise but simply telling a story of what I did to get out of this situation with my 2022 6,7 F350 with 70k miles…

If you pour DEF in your diesel tank it is not too late. I realized what I had done about 3 gallons in at a gas station in a sketchy area 700 miles from home. I had roughly 30 gallons of fuel in the truck and bought the gas station completely out of 5 gallon cans. We disconnected the fuel lines from where they meet the frame rail at the front of the fuel tank. The yellow(top) is feed and the white(bottom) is return. Just unplug both to be safe. Next we lined up some fuel tanks. The best decision for us was to click the key over repeatedly. The fuel pump isn’t that accessible and wasn’t worth the risk of frying the system. We clicked the key over in about 15 second intervals for a realllllllly long time. Filled less than 30 gallons. Flushed the fuel filters (we made the mistake of forgetting the filter on the frame). Added another 3 gallons of fuel and flushed that through the system again. Filled up a full tank and added some injector cleaner. Flushed the filters again after about a 10 mile drive. It was late on a Friday so the next morning we hit an auto store and got new filters. Replaced in the parking lot and hit another 700 miles to the next job.

This truck is very smart and the water in fuel sensor was essential. If you get a light after all these steps turn it off and drain the filters. I think the only reason mine came on is because we forgot the filter on the frame. I can’t imagine what that would have cost to take somewhere and have worked on. I spent a few hundred in fuel tanks, fuel, fuel additives, and beer(fuel). It’s been a few thousand miles since then and everything is fine. So if you find yourself in this predicament just know there is a way out.

Luckily the secondary latch kept the Hood from opening all the way but that was a hi pucker moment. I'm positive the hood was latched. I drove about 1700 miles round trip and this happened about 40 miles from home. Not sure what I can do to prevent this from happening again

Curious what people here recommend for maintaining a lightly used 6.7 Power Stroke.

We bought our 2022 F-350 to tow a trailer, but the trailer has been stationary for about 9 months and the truck hasn’t been getting much use. It’s currently at 22,496 miles. The last Ford dealership service was at 18,996 miles in April 2025, so mileage-wise it hasn’t been long, but time-wise it’s been over a year.

I want to ensure we’re doing everything we should to maintain it properly given the low-use pattern. I read another thread on storing a truck for several months and found it helpful. These were my main takeaways:

Battery:
The truck battery died recently, but I was able to charge it successfully with a trickle charger. Based on recommendations from that thread, I’m planning to get a proper battery maintainer / float charger.

Driving:
I’ve been driving it periodically, but I saw recommendations to drive it about every 2 weeks and long enough to reach full operating temperature, roughly 20 miles minimum. My understanding is that cold starts plus short runs are not ideal for diesels. I don’t think I’ve always been driving it that far, so I’m going to pay closer attention to that.

DPF / regen:
I haven’t seen any exhaust filter warning or regen issue come up, but my takeaway was that if the DPF warning does come on, I should plan for roughly 30 miles of sustained highway driving to let the regeneration cycle complete before parking it again.

Fuel and DEF:
I also saw recommendations to keep the diesel tank full to minimize moisture and condensation. I think it’s around 75% full right now, so I’ll fill it when I take it out next. I’ll also check the DEF, keep that full, and make sure the cap is tight. It sounded like DEF can become more of a storage-related issue than the diesel itself.

Is there anything else you’d recommend for a low-use 6.7? Specifically wondering about oil changes based on time rather than mileage, DEF age, fuel additives, battery maintenance, regen considerations, or anything else I should be watching.

Honestly, I’m considering selling the truck since we aren’t using it much and have a friend with a truck we could borrow when we need to move the trailer. For now, I just want to make sure we’re doing right by it and maintaining it well.

The truck has 21,000 miles. 871 operating hours with 252 idle hours. I am hoping it is the CCV filter causing pressure seeping that is migrating. Any advice or experience with this would be greatly appreciated

Hello all, I've been looking at a 2017 F250 and I'm a little confused about the 5th wheel setup. The window sticker doesn't say anything about it having the 5th wheel prep package, but it has the 4 pucks in the corners and the 7 way in the bed. It doesn't have a hole for the gooseneck ball tho. My question is that could this be factory, and would the gooseneck be there, and the hole just not drilled for it? I'm not familiar with some of the newer Ford options, just wanting to upgrade from a 2005 v10. TIA

I purchased a new to me 2017 XLT around a month ago. The rear view camera does not work. I ordered a new tailgate wiring harness because it looked like someone had tried to repair it before and didn’t do a good job.

Before it arrives though, I’m trying to verify power at the adapter that’s near the spare tire.

Does anyone happen to have the pin outs for these connectors? I found power on one pin, but it’s live all the time not just when the truck is in reverse.

any help would be appreciated.
Pain in the a** taking off orig but installing newer was a simple task until it wasn’t ! Those hose will not fit , everything I’ve read and countless videos say it just slides on and locks , mine slides on and with very light pull it slides off ! Looks like it’s bottoming out on the male barb ! Anyone here actually done a swap if so what’s the secret ??? Thanks
