I have a 1960 F100 with a 223 I-6 and need a replacement gasket for my water outlet housing (thermostat housing). I went to my local NAPA and order one and it's going to take a few days to arrive. The image of it looks just like the one I found on Thermostat Housing Gasket - #F-8255-1 - National Parts Depot Below is the image of the housing in my truck and I am wondering if I have the correct housing as the bolt pattern does not seem to match. Do I have the incorrect housing?

I cannot post in the marketplace, but I am in financial dire straits and need to sell my fridge to keep the family fed and the lights on. If this is not allowed, mods please remove. Great solid truck for a restore. Very minimal rust. Runs and drives with a 351c and freshly rebuilt C4. Was my daily driver for 6 or so years before I took it off the road to start upgrading. Thanks y’all. Hope we can get it into a good home ASAP.

HELP NEEDED.

Hello, everyone I'm looking for some experience and advice. We pulled the 292 y block from my brothers 1958 f-100 yesterday. The plan was to clean, paint, gasket, replace distributor, new exhaust, and drop it right back in. Here is the problem, we pulled all the plugs intending to do compression test using an impact on the balancer bolt and couldn't get the crank to spin. The rotating assembly is so tight it takes pretty good effort to turn the crack shaft with a breakover bar. Then thinking maybe we had resistance on something on the top end we also removed the rocker assemblies and pushrods. This did not change the force required to turn the crank. Oh by the way the flywheel has also been removed to mount the engine on the stand. Most of my experience is with GM, Jeep, and more modern ford engines but it makes no sense to me that the crank and piston requires so much force to turn over with no compression or valve train resistance. Is this normal? What should I be looking for? Right now the engine is on a stand with pan off so it could be visually inspected No obvious damage can bee seen looking at the crank, rods, piston pins and skirts, or bottom of the cylinder walls. By the way the truck ran when we backed it into the garage to pull the engine. Any advice experience tricks or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

I'm at the gearbox stage of the restoration of my 1959 F-100 and my 292 has a medium case CoM attached. It has the water cooling system attached to the side of the gearbox. Unfortunately the cooler and associated hard lines to the motor are somewhat damaged.

What are folks using for transmission oil coolers for their trucks?

I'm trying to keep the truck as original as possible, so something discrete would be preferred. I'm also going to be using the original radiator, so will need something external I would guess. I see there are thousands of "trans oil coolers" available out in the wild, so would prefer some direct experience with something that fits to our trucks. Or is it as simple as grabbing a "kit" and making it work?

Any suggestions welcome :-)

Thanks
