2008 XL regular cab with 4.2L V6 and automatic. 205000 miles. A couple of weeks ago I got a P0104 code with a CEL. Cleaned the MAF sensor and it ran OK for a few days.

But now I am getting P0442 and P0456 codes. I’m thinking new plugs, coils, and plug wires may be the fix. Plugs are old. Motorcraft Platinum plugs were suggested in another thread. But before I start throwing parts at it, what else should I be looking at first?

Symptoms: Regular stuttering and shuddering going up hills at 60MPH. Not much at lower speeds, although steeper hills at 25-35 MPH have the symptoms too.

Codes are read with a ScanGauge I.

i’ve seen a few posts where people recommended first replacing the gas cap for emissions codes. But I went to order a new gas cap and Ford is out of stock per dealer parts department. Any ideas of a replacement part source?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Scraping Noise From Truck

Hello, I have myself a 2007 Ford f150 XL with a 4.2L v6, an automatic transmission, and rear wheel drive. When heavy accelerating, I get a scraping noise starting before shifting and ending when you let off the gas after it's done shifting like you are dragging a metal trash can on concrete at 20mph starting at about 181,500 miles. It started after I replaced the power steering pump and accidentally left the e brake on for about 100 ft. I am thinking that it may be bad bearings in the new to me remanufactured power steering pump. My truck has 182,000 miles on it and the transmission was rebuilt at 174,000 miles by the previous owner. May or may not be related to the scraping, I recently encountered a bogging down when under heavy acceleration and she's missin her getup and go. I took off the air box to access the throttle body, and noticed that when she is at the on position post start, the throttle body makes a winning noise. I disconnected the cable going to the throttle body and plugged it back in and then it only once threw 3 throttle body related codes. I recently replaced all 6 spark plugs to spec. My engine also started making a tapping sound, not real loud but enough to notice from inside the cab. There is also a bubbling coming from the dash that I am in suspicion that there is a hole in my heater core. I have not noticed any major drops in fluids besides antifreeze which I have been topping off often to keep it good. There is also oil covering the bell housing of the transmission closest to the engine, I believe there is a small leak in the right valve cover or head gasket as I see oilly dirt caked up on the outer corner of the gasket closest to the firewall. I recently did an oil and oil filter change at 181,800 miles with synthetic blend 5w20 and some lucus to quiet the lifters a bit. Please help I don't even know where to start as there is so much wrong with her. Any information will help and feel free to ask questions if you think I should check something specific.
