Even though it was in service and safetied one month before I bought it, I decided to pull the wheels on the 1980 L9000. The rear drums were pretty much toast!
So I got new drums, shoes, hardware, bearings and wheel seals. Also added Brake Safe stroke indicators and replaced the gear oil in the rear axle.
I did a quick paint job on the rims but will have to pull them all again and do the hubs and rims, but I needed to move it right away this week.
It looks crusty in pics, but it has some kind of very thick oil/rubber undercoating. I power washed the springs and part of the frame and they are still shiny red like new.

It's now in better shape than it was as an in-service fire truck, LOL

Neighbor said I can have it if I can get it running. Been sitting for at least 4 years. Reconditioned the batteries, trimmed some degraded battery cables, started right up. It had sunk a little into the dirt (in Florida). Dug it out, but can’t get it out.

Seems that the back right wheels are seized or something? The back left spins when I put it in gear (forward and reverse), but the back right is just locked.

As far as I can tell, no brakes are on (service or emergency). The only thing I can think is that the pads are rusted/stuck to the drum?

I peeked under and snapped a few pics and it looks like someone tried to cage the brakes? That bolt is backed out.

I read that you can somehow see if the pads are up against the drum?

Anyway, I’ve attached a few pics.

Hello folks! I'd like to know what/where I can subscribe to that will allow me to retrieve OEM part numbers for my 1992 F800 by VIN. Finding parts for this thing is a sruggle. ANy software? Any account for access? I know most Ford dealers can't do it unless they deal in big trucks. I have found some aftermarket suppliers that can do it but they won't share the part number once they look it up.

Was wondering if you could help me out as well. I am looking for clarification seeing you were able to decode the prior truck with similar specs. I am also thinking this is a 391 4v xd ft engine. I am also looking to replace the starter with a refurbished unit from napa parts. I purchased one recently and it seemed to hit the back of the bell housing and did not mount. I was hoping for your expertise and guidance. I am obviously getting something wrong.

Very appreciated

**** After some more research I came across the Part #: RAY 2444900 from napa where I bought the last one. Hopefully this will the correct one!?!

I purchased a 1966 Ford F-800 truck and I think the original motor may have been replaced in it. The truck VIN is F80FU807512 which I think would mean that it was built with a 391 engine in it. Is there a way I can verify if it actually is a 391 by the casting numbers stamped on the engine block boss on the driver's side front of the block? I have attached a picture of the numbers and letters stamped on the boss.
I noticed that in the profile settings, you can record your truck(s). However, in the dropdown, the whole C-series is missing, and F5 is missing. Coincidentally everything I own.

I need to replace the serpentine belt on my 1997 F800 with a 5.9L 12 value, but there is a small V-belt that runs the parking brake pump on the outside the serpentine belt. I am assuming the fan needs to come off to get this small diameter V-belt off. I guess I need to know the steps to replace these belts.

The parking brake V-belt system has “ adjustment “ bolt on top, and a bolt on the bottom I’m assuming is a pivot point. There is another bolt with a nut on the opposite side of the bracket close to the “adjustment” bolt. There is no slide adjustment that I can. I’ve loosened the bottom bolt and backed off the “adjustment” bolt but the V-belt doesn’t loosen.

I really need some help understanding what I need to remove to replace these belts. I’ve had this truck several years, it runs great and just want insure I don’t to have a break down out on the road. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
