    I have a $100+ ratcheting crimping tool.
It's not Aircraft/Aerospace spec, but it does a good job for racing & marine applications.
    Damn connectors are expensive.
With a dozen or more wires for the radio it is not worth it.

Nasa uses more advanced applications than the rest of us.

My radio is not a life critical application and I would rather not have to go in there and mess with it again.
At least I know a solder joint won't get resistive.

That may be true in most cases, but don't tell that to NASA or the Air Force & FAA.
Solder joints can cause hard spots and invite vibration induced fatigue and failure.
A GOOD crimp is every bit as good a connection if oxidation is controlled.
Scotchlok's and $5 hand crimpers are **** and guaranteed to fail, eventually.

I'm a firm believer in soldering wires, and I believe it is the only way that wires should be joined together. The only time I use butt connectors is on quick trail fixes, and then as soon as I'm home, out comes the soldering iron and the heat shrink.
