    Hey Darrell,
    I haven't had any issues with the lights getting hot. The light housing itself is also plastic, so they don't generate much heat.
    I did paint my grille black inside. I didn't like the faded gray look. I just hit it with a light sanding, some lacquer thinner, let it dry and then rattle canned it with Krylon semi-flat black. That was over a year ago and I don't even have a rock chip yet.
    For the lights, I didn't use a switch. I simply wired them into my high beam circuit so they automatically come on with the high beams. Here's a link to my write up.

    I was checking out the pictures of your truck and the lights you installed. I like it and am thinking about doing the same to mine. Have you had any issues with the lights getting hot against the plastic?
    Did you paint your inner grill black? Mine looks faded, off black. Also curious where you mounted your switch.
