ok guys im working on this tonight so a quick reply would be most helpful which way does the fan clutch nut turn? my fan shroud says right hand thread but everything ive read says it shoudl be a left hand thread so which one do i go with. its a 40 mm nut. which way to loosen as im facing the truck clockwise or counter clockwise...........
any tips to get the bleepin nut off would be most helpful. i have the ford wrenches but this sucker is tight either way
You should go by the fan shroud, you gotta turn that one counter clockwise to remove it.
You can also figure it by the direction the fan belt drives it, you gotta go the opposite way with it to loosen it (a way to double check, verify the shroud is correct, no one swapped in one from something else for example).
ok another dumb question but something just came to me...... the side of the fan that says "front" goes toward the clutch side correct? for some reason after i put all the tools away and took a shower, i just have that feeling that i may have put the fan on backwards but im not 100% sure. some of the blades were barely hitting on the belt tensioner bolt but i just chalked that up to me bending them a little when i was loosening the hex nut....but just asking "front" side towards the clutch side/front of truck?
