When looking from the rear, sometimes they stamped the #(44,60 etc.) on the casting web in the lower right hand corner of the pig. this is just to lower right of the diff cover.
I too was looking for some information on D60's only im looking for identifying fronts.
I've heard they also stamp the date and the bill of materials on the long tube portion.
