my redneck moment for the week

earlier this week,I bought meat to BBQ on my charcoal grill this weekend. This was BEFORE the weather man started calling for snow all day yesterday and today,he was calling for 50's for the weekend. well, the bottom dropped out friday evening. It was 65 friday evening,by 3 in the morning it had dropped to 35 and the wind was blowing 20 mph. Started snowing about 6 a.m and didn't stop until after dark. I had my mind and taste buds set on BBQ and BEER.
It was snowing too hard to get the coals to fire before they got wet so I took the grill and put it in my metal storage shed(making sure there wasn't anything flammable in the shed) and fired that puppy up!! The roof was covered in snow. I lit the coals and got out of the shed(left the door open so it could get air) while I could still breathe. In less then a minute the roof was pouring steam. The young 20 something neighbor was all huddled up under the edge of her roof smoking a cigarette. she asked me "Do I need to call the fire department or something?" I told her "Hell no,i didn't buy enough meat for all those guys!!" after the coals turned gray,i moved the grill back outside closer to my back door, put the meat on and grilled like normal, even though it was snowing so hard I couldn't hardly see my garage 100 feet away!! My kids were embarrassed as hell, but they didn't have any complaints when they were scarfing down the meat!! Sorry for the mindless ramble, just thought I would share my redneck adventure of the week!!

There's a distinct probability that we all could be a little redneck. I'm fine with that.

I grill year round. I actually built a small metal carport type roof that is collapsable to grill in the rain and snow.

I lived in Germany for ten years. '73-'83 When I lived on the economy, in a condo, I would grill on the patio. Even during snowstorms. It would drive my neighbors crazy.
