Question Leaking on driver front shock

There appears to be something leaking onto my driver side front shock. The substance can be seen by looking in the wheel well. I think it's diesel fuel but I'm not sure. The vehicle is a 2002 7.3 4x4. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. I wonder if the seal has blown on the shock and it's just oil from the shock?

TIA,

Anthony

From where your saying the fluid is, maybe your powersteering line ruptured or a leak from the line, they rub on the inside of the shock mount.

Bingo ! Could it be that it's ATF out of your power steering pump ? Right behind the shock tower there is a line that goes up to your brake booster. Thats the first thing I would look at ! I have mine blow while up in 2ft of snow. No steering... no brakes... notta !

Let us know what you find !

edit: you fuel lines are along the frame rail there as well... it could be the quick disconnects if it is definitely fuel !

If it is a rupture line that got chaffed, replace with a new one and get a bigger size heater hose of sorts and cut a piece and slit it down the middle and wrap it around the contact part where it rubs, thats what I did, no problems after 4 years, let us know..
