I think Im going to be buying a black sunviser, bug deflector and a plastic black tool box for my 2001 super duty. I usually prefer chrome but I think the blacked out look will look better. Im guessing the only place for the visors would be Tiger automotive
California Creations does them as well. Just as a warning - if you make any amount of highway miles at any kind of spped at all, they will all make noise and cause you some grief. When you meet a semi with a cross wind, its not good. I love the look, have had about half a dozen different ones, and they are all F'ing junk!!!
I thought I would just include my experiences - they do look good though!
A few months ago JUST before ya bought this truck, I had a buddy from nipawin get rid of his visor and his bug deflector off of his 02 black superduty. A big bottle of whiskey would have got it from him too.
When you meet a semi with a cross wind, its not good.
warren, can you expound on this?? i have some concerns that i may voice later, and perhaps your experience might be what i'm experiencing...perhaps i should chuck my bug deflector... please explain...
I had problems with my gravel truck sun visor on windy days or meeting semi`s until I checked it out. It seems some bone head left out two of the most important mounting screws on the bracket so no wonder it was loose........
Now it`s perfect and rock solid with not one rattle or shake. It is a Lund which makes a big difference, some ''off'' brands can cause problems.
Sherm, what I was referring to was the visor in the cross wind meeting semis. The last one I had was the Ford factory one on my 'LE' package. I went through three of those visors - they cracked around the bolt hole mounts. I had a few Lund ones and they cracked too. The best mount I have seen is when they drill a hole and use one of those inserts rather than the self tapping screws.
Around town and on calm days they are fine, but I am **** about wind noise and the rattling / vibration I experienced with most of them seemed to make the trucks less desirable and enjoyable to drive.
I have tried different combinations of bug deflectors, no bug deflectors, etc with them and some were better than others on each of the trucks I had with visors!
I still like the way they look though.
Sherm, a friend has a truck like yours and his bug deflector causes the plastic cowling between his hood and the base of the windshield to make noise.
thanks for the explanation. not exactly what i'm experiencing. my deflector is holding up fine, and i don't notice any extra noise, but in a crosswind if a semi goes past me in the opposite direction, my hood lifts and durn near tries to fly off... its pretty scary looking.
Your actual hood lifts up? If thats the case man i would check into that, that cant be right!
I had a hood lift on me (my fault i had popped the hood earlier and didnt close it all the way) while i was driving on circle drive while doing 140. Didnt smash the winshield or anything but sure bent up that hood lol.
