Wow & Smokin`hot!
I was going to ask if it was for sale but by the second pix I don`t really think so.......And if it was it certainly would be worth a king`s ranson!
Where did you come across these pixs?
It would be nice if it was a local car but I highly doubt that.

Just think how much it would be worth if it was an original K-Car instead of someone's mod.
1965 Comets were available with the same HiPo 289 that came standard in 1965/67 GT350's, optional on '65/68 Mustangs, 1965 Falcons & 1963/68 Fairlanes.
Called K-Cars because the VIN engine code is the letter K.
This is an interesting video of Mercury's record setting run at the Daytona race track in Oct., 1964 with a number of Comets with the , I believe 289 K code 271 hp engines. They smashed quite a few speed and durability records...ran over 50,000 miles at high speed with little trouble.
I recall reading about it, just after it happened. It was quite a big deal at the time. Now probably as with many things only a distant memory.
There's two videos...kind of long but if you're a Comet Cyclone fanatic...well worth the time....watching this film of pure vintage automobilia history.
Hi Bill!
I know what you mean though I don`t have an exact idea of today`s K code values.
About 25 years ago I failed to act upon a 66 K code Mustang convertible which was a decent daily driver for sale at $6,000. It certainly wasn`t one of my brighter moments!
That rings a bell Les, thanks for the refresher course!
Your welcome Fomoko....to this day I still find it amazing how those 289's could go pretty well flat out for 50,000 miles. It says a lot about Ford's confidence to set up such a public display...but their confidence was well placed when you consider how well the Comets did....Les
