All I want for Christmas

Is my wife healthy again. She fell the day after Thanksgiving & broke her left leg at the ankle. She had surgery today to put 2 plates & a few pins in to hold it in place. I'll keep everyone updated with her progress. Its a real bad break with both bones completely broken. She goes back the 19th for her first checkup. She will have to go 6 weeks before putting any weight on it. Any prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Ditto on what hoosierbaby64 said. You said she had surgery today, is it normal to wait that long to have plates and pins put in? Hope all goes well for her.

In my thoughts and prayers also for a quick recovery. Winter sucks for any type of break let alone a bad one like your Mrs. suffered.

I'm not sure about the long wait. Most of the time was because we were 350miles from home & the doctors there advised us to have it done at home to allow the followup to be done by the same doctor that did the surgery. The doc here waited to let the swelling go down. I'm glad its finally done & the healing can start. Thanks for the prayers & kind thoughts.I just told her about them & it really cheered her up. Lisa sends her thanks too.

that is a standard with broken bones anymore. if they set the bone and cast it with swollen soft tissue, the cast will become loose as the swelling reduces , and they will have to recast.

so it is better to wait for the swelling to recede first, then operate and cast one time.

You got prayers. Tell her not to get impatient and let every thing heal properly.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife.

I hope she get's back to good health, quickly.

My (much younger) cousin was in a bad car accident near Morristown, TN, a few years ago.
She went through H_E_double-hockey-sticks with her leg injuries/surgeries.
She almost lost her right leg because of it. She has rods and screws in her upper and lower right leg, and in winter, her leg is always cold.

I really hate to hear of women being in pain.
I truly hope your wife is well, soon.

Pass along my good thoughts for a speedy recovery.

One of the many great things about having a life-long partner is the assurance that we have someone to lean on when times get rough.
