I was wondering if there was a simple rewire that could be done to make the turn signal lamps on my mirrors act like the parking lamps. IE, the side lamps still act as turn signals, but also come and stay on with the lights. I just thought they would make nice side clearance lamps. My mind says the wiring shouldn't be that difficult. But i've been proven wrong before
You could and they would be on whenever the PLs were on. But when it came time to make them blink is when you'd run into a problem. It actually could be done with a couple of relays on each side, but the problem is that you would end up with the mirror blinking off and on, opposite of the front and rear blinker lights whenever the parking lights were on. I'm pretty good with electrical circuits, I'll give it some though a little later when I have the time and see if I can come up with something for you.

You don't have to bust tail over it, but it's just a mod me and my brother thought would be nice to have. If you come up with something, I'd really appreciate it man .
Can you (or your brother) build simple electronic circuits using a 555 timer IC chip?
I think this can be done, but it would require a delay circuit to be able to keep one of the relays energized between the turn signal pulses. This is necessary to be able to cut the power from the parking light circuit during turn signal operation. Because that's the crux of the problem, the PL circuit is constant, while the TS circuit pulsates. Because of that, the TS circuit by itself cannot be used to cut out the PL circuit without using a delay circuit between the pulses. I could post the schematic but obviously you'd have to be able to build it on your end.

It would have to be amazingly simple, but I could probably do it. If it's over my head, I have a friend here at the college that builds his own PCB's all the time for little robots.
Pardon the crudeness of my hand drawing. I didn't feel like firing up Autocad for something so simple. Make one of these for each side and you should be all set. R1 adjusts how long the timer relay will stay energized. I would suggest somewhere from 5-10 seconds, just to make sure it doesn't go off in-between two turn signal flasher pulses.

what kind of bulb is in the mirror turn signal? maybe someone knows of a combination bulb, like the ones (3157 ?) in the front or the rear (they house two filaments)
Wouldn't it just be easier to wire an LED out to the mirror and go directly into the parking light circuit? Not as elegant, of course.
I figured on doing that at first with the parking lamps. Just unwire the side mirrors from their original circuit and tap them into the parking lamp circuit. Of course it's gonna be more difficult then that .
