I just purchased a 96 Ranger Flairside. The bed is in good shape with the exception of the tailgate (missing) and one of the fiberglass fenders has a 3-4" crack towards the top. The crack is wide enough where it looks like some fiberglass will need added. I've never worked with fiberglass before and I'm looking for some advice on the best way to effect a repair. Thanks in advance.

V grove out the area of the crack, and sand or grind down to glass a few inches out from the crack and feather in the edge. Not sure exactly what you are looking at, but if you a bigger damage, and pieces don't fit back together, may need to airsaw through to get pieces to lay flat, or if have a pretty wide crack or a hole through, lay duct tape behind temporarily to be able to lay your glass to fill the hole.
Lay up glass in the v grove and then out beyond the crack area. Then grind or sand down once hardened, and do finish work with a regular filler over the glass. Its also a good idea if the crack goes through, to also glass underneath for extra reinforcement. When laying glass, I like to use fiberglass strand mat, and cut it into appropriate size pieces. Use a paint brush to brush mixed resin on the area, lay the glass over and saturate it well with the resin working it in with the paint brush and working out any airbubbles. I cut smaller pieces first to place down into the v grove area and when thats filled larger pieces to go out a few inches beyond the crack with glass. On bare glass I like to use epoxy primer down first before a filler primer
Not sure what rangers use, but if it is actually an smc panel you have, you will need appropriate resin and materials designed to use with smc. polyester fiberglass resin won't stick to smc. Other then that, the repair procedure is pretty similar.
