A friend of mine has a 07, or maybe it's an 08, Acadia. On the rear of the vehicle there are small specs of rust.
I run a couple car washes here in MI and have noticed this on GM, Dodge, and even a few Fords. I ussually notice it on white or cream colored vehicles. These are new vehicles.
Is this a problem with the paint the OEMs are using?
Or is it a problem with the brake dust or brake pads as it seems to be in the rear of the vehicles only?
I've heard that using a clay bar will remove.
I'm not sure but i think you'll have this on some of the vehicles that are transported by train. Hot brake dust from the train embeds in the paint and rusts. Just a thought.
I have heard that one before. What puzzles me is that I only seem to see it on the rear of the vehicles. Like it is coming from the brakes of the vehicle itself.

i've seen those little red dots ..my silver truck has them on the back area but i've seen them on newer car and even on the plactic bumpers...i was just thinking maybe it somthing on the roads from the tar or somthing
I had a friend that had the rail dust problem. After several buff jobs and some touch up paint they finally had to replace the truck. It was quit a battle with the ford dealer and Ford Motor Company had to get involved.

Sometimes those spots are caused by tar from the roads. I good rubbing compound, or a product like Turtle Wax Cut n-Shine will usually remove them.
Go to Auto Zone and buy the mothers clay bar and use it this works great it will pull the little metal fragments out. Then use a good quality wax. I do live in an area where we do not have alot of rain or snow that I am sure will make so differance.
