I have a 73 f250 4x4. It has a 4 speed manual dont know which tranny came in these trucks but it does have to np205 transfer case. Any ways on my way home from buying it it was low on gear oil. About half way home she started whinninh on me. After I filled it up it still whines but not as bad. and only in 3 rd and 4th gear. A guy at work said I probally just got the bearing hot and it might be fine to drive it will just whine. It shifts real nice still from what I can tell so it doesnt seem like it is binding or the syncros are out. Any ideas? And if I rebuild it I am assuming my gears are okay would a rebuild kit fix this problem do they come with bearings? And how hard are they to rebuild I have rebuilt automatics before and didnt find it that hard.
If you rebuilt an auto a manual should be easy with your eyes closed!! How is the
diff levels and the front wheel bearings grease? A rear end can whine like crazy
especially at the driveline harmonic!!
