OD light blinking?

I was wondering what would cause my overdrive off light to start blinking on and off. I have a 2002 F-150 with the 5.4 and automatic tranmission. It just started this morning and I do not know what is wrong!

A transmission malfunction. Have your codes pulled.

More correctly, the computer has detected what it has determined to be a transmission-related malfunction. As noted, need the codes read.

Does your speedo act irratically... I've had this happen on the rear axle speed sensor goes bad.
