Paint Sprayer Difference
Any help would be grateful. Thanks
The new HVLP "Hi Volumn Low Pressure" paint guns use way less air pressure, and are able to apply more paint to the serface you're painting with the lower pressure, and with less overspray.

As real said, the HVLP uses less pressure but much more volume. The goal of this technology is to put more paint on the surface and less in the air for environmental reasons.
The main motivation to use HVLP would be if your local laws require it. If you live in a locality like I do, you are not required to use HVLP. The advantage to NOT using HVLP is mainly the savings in compressor size. It requires about a 5HP, two stage compressor or larger to run one for painting an entire car. If you will be doing motorcycles or one panel at a time, then your compressor needs will be less.
Also, just because the cup is on top of the gun, does NOT indicate an HVLP gun. There are MANY of todays conventional guns with a gravity feed cup.
