I asked a similar question a few days ago, "Is anything as good as an AutoEnginuity?" The answer that I got is some may be close but nothing is the same. Save up your change to get the AE and have the best. They are available on e-bay for $100 less than their website but all you get is the general program. You don't have the availability of the different applications specific to a brand of vehicle. You would have to get them from the website so it is better to get what you want directly from them, so they said in their answer about the packages.

I talked to AutoEnginuity about there product. They said the "Ford Bundle" is the most extensive scanner/reader/thingy made for the 7.3 PSD and that Ford uses their product in their diesel mechanics "school". The Ford Bundle will be just under $400 shipped to my door. I was thinking it was going to be closer to $1000, but I'm glad it's not. I'll start collecting pennys tonight!

i have AE and its the best tool you will ever have..you can do most all gasers 96 and newer as well as any PSD....click on the road side help link in my sig and then on the AE link..you can see how some of the test are done...
