After spending a few hundred on the new solenoid, I found a puddle under the front end.
I pulled the cover off the radiator and it looks like the tranny cooler is leaking. I can't really tell if it's in the fins or where the hoses connect. I've been trying to track down a used one, but no luck so far.
I checked the chiltons manual and it says you have to pull the radiator to change the tranny cooler. I'd like to avoid that if I can since that pretty much triples the PIA factor of the job.
Anyone ever swapped one out or have any other advice?
Sorry, I can't help you with the replacement process. But make sure it's not a line or a fitting. Also, if you have a crack in the housing, JB Weld is great for those types of fixes.
You can also add some UV dye to your transmission help spot the source of the leak. I do not know if there are any long term problems with leaving the dye in the fluid. I don't think there are any risks, but its possible to have problems. Just to be safe don't leave the dye in there, plan on doing a full fluid changeout after you are finished.
Well, the check tranny light came on briefly again once or twice today, so I pulled the plug to check the fluid and it came out like a firehose. It was prolly a half quart over full. Could this have caused the check tranny light to come on?
