Worth a shot, I can't imagine it not doing anything. I just used Simple Green when I had mine down, had no problems cleaning it out (though mine was pretty clean). The only problem I could see would be getting the Seafoam to stay on there long enough to do it's job, since it's designed to be combusted and clean out carbon, I'm not sure what effect it would have on the buildups in a tranny just being sprayed/poured on.
Unless you have some ultra vintage tranny that used 90W or if by chance someone used 90W in a manual that should have used ATF, you should not have a *gummy* tranny. ATF (used in manual trannies for over 20 years now) is high in detergent and as such dissolves any crud that might tend to bond.
*Zakk, he's talking inside the tranny, not outside. Post +1.

I agree. At the most, I'd maybe try some Auto-Rx for a while and then drain and refill with fresh stuff.
P.S. Good to see you Bill!

Of course I meant the inside LOL
The reason I wanted to use Seafoam is to see if that might fix my 2nd to 3rd gear grinding that I hate with a passion!
Every time I hear that grind reminds me that I need a new trany, and I still got hard shifting when cold in the morning, clutch is working good that was checked for 3 different mechanics, and one of them told me bad synchros,
which is common on the Rangers Mazda trans.
I found the stuff , it is call Sefoam Transmission something?
but it is for Auto trany.
Anyway this Seafoam stuff is really good that I'm gonna use it to decarb my 1973-20hp two stroke Evinrude outboard, that's gonna be one heck of smoke show! Just imaging the sefoam plus the oil in the gas mix ol together trough the exhaust!
