It was brought up in another thread, but Ford does a bad job at advertising this truck. I haven't seen an ad on TV, print, or elsewhere in about 10 years!
The last Ranger ad I saw was in Sports Illustrated (swimsuit issue?) in the late 90's. It was advertising the new 4-door option on the Off-Road package. It was a two-page pull out that had a picture of a blue 4 door Off Road Ranger on a beautiful beach with all four doors wide open with a caption that read "A Little See Through Number For The Beach..."
I always thought that was really cool ad. So.....
Have you seen any ads for the Ranger that you remember that you liked or disliked? Do tell.........
ive seen then on tv a few times last year, but havent seen any latly. the ones i saw were showing the ranger out on the beach. nothing to crazy just cruzin on the water front.
Haven't seen anything on TV other than a passing mention when discussing other Ford vehicles.
My local Ford dealer does have a large poster hanging in their lobby of an FX4 level 2 sitting at the top of a hill caked in mud...looks like a lot of fun.
I don't believe they are using a lot of advertising money on the Ranger because they don't have a problem selling them, and the profit margin is lower. They make more money on the larger trucks and the SUV's.
Good point. But they also advertise the Focus, 500, etc. quite a bit, and one can only imagine their profits are around the same as the Ranger or even lower.
Zach your right on the profits but don't forget the focus, etc have fuel economy ratings over the CAFE standards which is why the profit margins are low on those cars and high on the pickups. the idea is to sell more vehicles with rating over CAFE to keep the average up. thus they advertise those more trying to sell more of them. The ranger is just below the CAFE standards but without the huge markup of the F150 and bigger so not much incentive to push them from either angle. plus as mentioned they really don't have a problem selling them either.
I remember an advertisement only a couple years ago for the "Temper proof" bed side rails. It showed a snow boarder whacking his board on it. I know this is an old thread but I remembered this for some reason the other day and was just digging through for an old thread for a link i need.
