Go to fillup the f150, open the fuel door, unscrew the cap...and something catches my eye...the small circular door is gone. In case you are lost, its the small 1.5" metal door that protects crap from falling in the tank and is just big enough for the nozzle. Anyways, it can only go one way and that way in into the tank.
I checked with a flashlight and dont see anything, and I even felt around in there thinking it may have been stuck.
Calling Ford tomorrow (thank god its under warranty), I just couldnt find any info about this and I hope this hasnt happened to anyone else. I swear, ive had some weird s%^# happening lately.
i think you didn't have one. i was like wtf too when i did my first couple of fillups. but it was never there. there's been a couple of threads about the same topic b4.
I will attest to this as well. My 04 Screw 5.4L also does not have the flap in the fuel filler neck. I, too, thought this was strange, but found out it is supposed to be that way.
My 05 FX4 HAS one, I wonder whats up with that. Maybe I'll ask when I go pick it up tonight at the dealer. (31,000 and finally getting the camphaser and lifter TSB done)
note - there is a gas plug "fairy" that comes around and steals everyone's little flaps when their trucks are left alone... getting a bunch of them to take to the local scrap yard for some money for gas
