I want to install a set of factory fender flares on my 05. Does anyone know of or have, a template to mark the holes. Of for that matterl know where I purchace something like that.
I mounted OEM flares on my truck, and did not do the hole drilling. Just mounted them tight to the body using the push pins from the bottom on the wheel well lips. Since they are rigid it worked out well. I was in the same boat as you, but decided incase I do not want flares later, no holes to worry about.
Thanks joeypurcell, how long have you had those on? There is no gap around the top?
Nope, the dealer was surprised I got them to fit so well. They included them when I bought my XLT, but they wanted extra to install them. I have had them on for over a year. No problems.
i also have a set on my xl i got off of ebay. i didnt drill holes either. i removed all the clips except the front threaded studs and just drilled hole through the front plastic bumper pad. then all the rest of the the tabs where i removed the clips i used a little piece of 3m heavy duty double sided tape ( The Grey stuff with the red peel off backing) you can get it at walmart or autozone. they fit perfect! and have been on for almost a year. goes through the car wash with brushes every week. also for the underneath holes that i drilled i used black silicone in them before using the push in fasteners to seal the raw edges from rust. those push fasteners you can also get at lowes. good luck. the key is just like joeypurcell said is get them tight and the rigidedness will kinda spring them tight towards the fender.
i will try to asap i just took some new pics but also just got a new computer and dont have the software to download my pics yet i will get them up for ya soon tho
Thanks guys for all the input. Talk to guy at a reputable body shop and he said he would paint them for $130 and install for $160 with all clips. Now I was thinking $290. Turns out he is doing it all for $160 needless to say The truck will be there Monday morning. I will share pics when I get-er-done.
I installed OEM Lariat flares on my XLT.I drilled holes in the fender lips in the wheel well area and used screws.I didn't drill any holes on the outsides of the fenders.
