I am looking into satelite radio dont know which one to get both the same price, which one do you have or know some that has it and are you or they happy with it (xm or sirius) or not so happy with it, Also where and how did you run the cable for the antennae?
i have XM and I love it. I think if you want more talk shows, go with sirius. If you want more music, go with XM. thas my rule of thumb. ANyways, i dont thinkk you can go wrong either way. Enjoy commercial free music
where I work you cant even get XM reception 90% of the time..pisses me off when theres a good song and as soon as you move it cuts out.
They need to build satellite radio with an :anti skip" type feature like the old panasonic shockwave discman's had. Read ahead and created a buffer zone to playback from incase of a skip. They have playback sattellite radios, shouldnt be that hard to figure out. Sirius has better channels of my liking, and Ive used both.
I have Sirius and am very pleased with it.....so much so that I have it in two vehicles and in my home. Programming excels over XM, and soon they are adding NASCAR. No problems and a great service. I ran the antenna along the channel at the third brake light, along the rear slider to the drip edge and into the truck. Hid the antenna wire under the door sill to the drivers seat to the console where the radio sits. I used small plastic cable clips to secure the wire. Installation took no more than 20 minutes.
I have XM. I listen to alot of talk radio between sports and politics, many types of channels on those topics. It has every type of music possible, usually a few channels per style. I have never had any type of connection problems. The guy above must work in a concrete building that has no windows. If you can see daylite your XM will work. Also, XM radios and antennas are much smaller and better looking than Sirius. My buddy had Sirius. I've road with him several times. I'd rather have my XM.
To me, the biggest difference between the two is Howard Stern, just happens, my truck come with Sirius along with 6 mos of service, which I purchased last week.
My F-150 came with 6-months of free Sirius, and I also had Sirius free for 12 months when I bought my new motorhome last year. I didn't renew it when the free year was up on the motorhome, and I won't renew it when it runs out on my pickup. As mentioned, Sirius has more "talk radio" than XM, as well as much more DJ chatter. Unfortunately for them I don't listen to the radio for "talk" or DJ chatter, so for me Sirius is out. XM seems to be more music-oriented, so if I decide to get satellite radio and pay for it, they'll be the ones I go with.

There are three Sirius channels that come with the truck, each with more than 100 stations, surely you can find some stations that suit your needs, besides Howard, I found an all 80's and NBA/Sports station which I listen to all the time. Do you need to purchase seprate hardware for XM?
I went with Sirius because they offered a flat $499 fee for lifetime subscription. That way I don't ever have to pay them a monthly fee. It was a bit much up front but I hate monthly fee's so it was good for me.
XM didn't offer a lifetime one time flat fee. So it was a no brainer for me to go with Sirius.
Sirius has alot of music choices. XM fans have no idea what they're talking about when they say XM has more music choices.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

Talk radio is easy to avoid- I just tune into a music station. But the DJ chatter on Sirius seems bad regardless of which channel you select, which is why I won't be renewing when the 6-month freebie period runs out.
Don't know yet whether subscribing to XM will require additional hardware. If it does I won't bother- I can easily live without satellite radio...
I have Sirius and the DJ talking as some talked about is very limited on the music channels. And what little they do say usually is interesting and pertains to the group or person that did or is about to do the tune. No comparison to regular radio. I happen to like listening to a little Howard Stern in the morning. He's not for eveybody, but if you like him, then Sirius is the only choice. I have a friend that's an over the road truck driver, and he's had both XM and Sirius in his rig. He ended up with the Sirius. He said coverage was better with Sirius, and you get all the music you would ever want from Sirius. That's why I chose Sirius in the first place. Stern coming to them was just a bonus. I actually have two accounts because of liking Sirius so much.
With me it boiled down to sports as they have similar music formats. Sirius has NFL, College Football, World Class Soccer, Getting NASCAR in 2007, NBA, CFL, NHL. The downside is that I really love MLB, so I'm hoping that they get it from XM someday.
I had 6 mos of sirius free too. I rarely used it because my truck had the mp3 system and I just load up a cd with a hundred of my favorites at no charge
I currently have both XM and Sirius because I had XM and then got Sirius with my truck. They are both good and I think I would be happy with either. They both have channels that are better than others. For example, for my tastes, I like the rock stations a little better on Sirius. However, XM has X-Country (Channel 12) that I love and Sirius' version (Outlaw Country) isn't as good. The other thing to consider is what sports you want - they both have different coverages of different leagues. For now, I will keep both and listen to the best of both. Jon
