How to not void warranty?

I just have a general question as this is my first vehicle with a warranty. How do I make sure I don't void the factory warranty without having to take the truck to the dealer for every oil change, etc? Do I just keep receipts showing I did the work myself, or is there no way around taking it in for everything? Thanks.

Just keep receipts and write in the dates/milage in your owners service manual.

by law they can not make you take it to them for service work and void the warantee. They also can only void the warantee if they can prove that a component that you added caused the problem ... like if you put a cold air intake on, and you sucked up water and hydrolocked the engine... .sorry... no warantee. But if you put a cat back exhaust on, and your wipers quit working, then they can't void the warantee. It is called the moss-magnuson act or something like that. Just keep recepts and records of your servicing, and really do it and they won't mess with you.

Reciepts are key. If you get a cracked head and the oil gets filthy, they'll try saying you didn't change the oil. If you have reciepts (Wallyworld, ets), they have no leg to stand on. A reputable service station is the best way, but if you're like me, I like to change the oil myself.

A catback has no effect on the warranty.
