Difference between an '03 & '04 6.8L
There is always a difference in PCM programed factory "code" based on updates, region, or CARB state limits in OBD-II
If shopping for a "chip" or "programmer" the folks here at FTE seem to be some of the most knowledgeable or will point you in the right direction
there are many great brands out so it breaks down to your choice.
mine is www.sctflash.com type in your zip code to find a dealer near your home and work with them to custom tune a excal2 to your needs, wants and living area. or contact a web site sponser who sells them.
don't expect huge gains over fords factory tuning. they preety well have it wrung out safely. for a note i spent over 7k on mine and only got 35 hp at the wheels, the really big gains come form adding of a super charger. some thing made for yours but not the newer 3 valve motor yet any way. or a regearing to 4:30 from your stock 3:73's that really liven up the v10.
yes you can add lots of toys that i refer to as motor bling bling. most are just a lot of waste of your cash. some help. most don't. if your looking for more mpg's that truth comes from how you plant your right foot and the speeds you drive at.
my personal advise is just drive the truck as is and enjoy what you drive for what it is, a gas powered ford super duty that can do almost any thing asked of it.
