i remember reading in the V10 forum (a while ago) that they are not made unless you had them custom ground. dont know if that has changed

Never seen anyone make 'em for mass consumption.

Hell, never seen or heard about someone even making their own.

Better mileage?? Than what?

Moved to the V10 forum

WELCOME to FTE!!!

No one makes cams for the V10 besides Ford, and they are all the same.

You'd have to buy cams, and send them out to a cam manufacturer who can regrind them for you.

However, I have a few points to make:

1) Hi-torque? Compared to what? The V10 already puts out more torque in such a wide curve than practically any other motor out there.

2) Mileage? Not going to help enough to make up for paying for the cams. If at all!

And to add to what Art is saying, who ever you contact to do a custom grind will need to be told up front that they are V10 cams. Then the disappointment will set in when they tell you no can do because their fixtures are sized for 4 6 and 8 cyl cams.

And if you were lucky enough to find the one guy out there that is willing to weld on material and regrind to higher lift and different timing or durations he will ask you to provide the specs you want.

Of course you could always say just a higher lift and longer duration symmetrically on all valves... keeping same timing and over lap.. but I assure you it would be very expensive and the results would be unpredictable. Let alone the hassle of installing, testing and doing it all over again if the dyno showed a problem in part of the power-band.

For a company to offer several different "grinds" of cam options for the typical GM BB V8 costs in the 100,000 to 200,000 dollar neighbor hood of R&D before they mass produce

A custom grind for my 2 cylinder Harley motor cost me 350 dollars from HeadQuarters in Canada. No they will not do other sizes..they are strictly Twin cylinder oriented. I was able to use a computer program to model and virtual dyno my designs before popping for the green to experiment. Took two tries to get the HP, & Torque curves in the range I was looking for in a NA 80 CI motor.

Sorry but the V10 is no where near the popular hot rod motor a Small Block Chev motor is...tis a fact that it is about as good as it can be in stock form...

Buy a V10 truck for the power house it is towing and hauling

Get an olf F100 and stuff a 560HP crate moter in it for Saturday night drags

The best, and I do mean BEST bang-for-the-buck in terms of torque-to-the-ground is re-gearing.

Going from 3.73 to 4.10 is a 10% increase in torque to the ground. From 4.10 to 4.30 is almost 5%.

Where else can you get solid increases in torque in 100% of the torque curve?

Cubic inches....

I was told maybe the last week of November or the first week of December. They are going to be expensive though. I do not have an exact price but I think close to $1200.00 per pair.

$1200 for what, 20-30 ft/lbs and/or a rise in RPM for peak torque?

Sure, you could get more than 20-30 ft/lbs, but it starts getting to the point where it's no longer a "truck" motor.

Of course, I'd love to stuff one into my wife's Cougar But after that, I wouldn't be worried about another 20-30ft/lbs, I'd be worred how to put big enough tires in the back that it wouldn't smoke them everytime I take off ...

Links? Info, data? Base circle specs" (lift / duration)

$1200 is a tad steep but about what I would expect for very low density sales

Always looking for the most up to date info so I can advise my buds with deep pockets...

$1200.00 plus how much labor to install them as you need some ford special tools to do the job.

plus you just might need to remove the cab to get enough room to work on them esp. on th right side bank with ac in the way.
