I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of what my friend called "personal insurance". He goes to a vocational school and said people came in and talked to them about it. He said it allows someone not on a persons insurance policy to drive their vehicles. Reason I need to know is I need to haul scrap metal this spring and summer from my grandmas to the scrap yard but she does not want to pay for adding me to the policy to drive the trucks. So my friend said I could get this insurance and its like her having me on her policy. Clear as mud now? Anyway if there is anyone else who has heard of such a thing, can explain it better, or tell me where and how to get it, that'd be appreciated. Thanks. 4020FarmBoy.
Do you own a vehicle? If so, is it full coverage. Your full coverage insurance will cover any vehicle that belongs to someone else. I know, I did this when I had an accident with my work truck, and since it was on personal use, I put it on my insurance.
Usually though, if you have insurance, and someone else drives your car that isn't on the policy, they'll still cover you. They don't expect that anytime you let someone borrow your car that you call your insurance and put them on it.
