Hey guys, another question. Can I swap fuel injectors from a 5.0 engine into a 5.8 engine?
I need an answer pretty quick. Any help always appreciated.
Thanks
You can get buy with using the yellow top 19lb injectors in the 5.8L. These would be in either a Mustang or a Lincoln Mark VIII with the 5.0HO. Standard 5.0's use white top 14lb injectors. Those might not feed the 351 properly.
Okay, so what you're both saying is that I need to make sure that they are the 19lb. ones, and not the 14's? We'll have to double check, I think the fuel injectors have come out of a 5.0 truck.
Okay, went ahead and checked. The one's coming out of my 250 are the yellow (19lb) topped ones. The one's that came out of the other truck are white (14lb). Busted my bubble. Thought I might have something to work with. Any suggestions on where I can find a set fairly cheap. Money is a major issue at this point. That's why we were looking to swap them.
Went that route...the two junkyards I did fine who had the injectors wanted as much as the part store did. I'm checking ebay now, and some other online stores, see what I can dig up. Thanks for the help!
Started running rough, then came to the point it wouldn't even start. Took it all apart, new fuel pumps, the whole works, checked to make sure that there was power going to the injectors, no problem there, the fuel injectors are majorly gunked up and nasty.
OK, Did you check for injector pulse with a noid light? They are about $10 at AutoZone.
You might try the white top units to verify that it is actually the injectors causing the problem. It will run, but may be lean under heavy throttle.
Some body put sugar in my friends 5.0 mustang a while ago. So i went to the junk yard (they were grey tops) got some out of a crown vic. In the end due to damage in the ended up that i had 4 crown vic and 4 mustang. Put them in Ran like it had a huge cam. So i went back to the junk yard looking for orange tops, All the trucks had them eccept 87 86 85. The newer 5.0 and 5.8 had the same numbers stamp on them used them. Ran better that before
Moral of the story just make sure the numbers the same and u wont have a problem
I had my injectors cleaned at a local machine shop, cost me $12 each (included new pintle caps, screens, and spacers) and now they work perfect. You might check around and see if your local machine shop can do this for you.
