Use Diesel water trap to strain gasoline?
All diesels use a water trap to seperate water from the fuel, right?
Why couldn't I use a water trap on a gasoline vehicle, and then fill up at all those "shady" gas-stations, that some of us think have water in the fuel?(including me)

My 53 F100 has the OE gas filler - if filling in the rain or forgetting to put the gas cap on could allow water to enter the tank - A marine fuel filter from a I/O automotive style engine will get the water before it gets you - my instalation is on the firewall near the frame rail

I was thinking of something with a trap or a drain valve so I can see how much water per tank came from which gas station when I drain the water. I'll have to look around and see what I can find...

I don't see any reason why you couldn't run a water seperator on a gas vehicle, as long as it was carbureted. If it's EFI, you'll have to check the pressure rating of the filter to make sure it can handle it.
