Question on Holley 2300 500cfm

The 2300 I have is a newer one. but something puzzles me, I have searched the holley site but found nothing on it. on the base of the carb are 2 ports a frount one and a side one , the frount one is at man vacuum and the one on the side seem to be a delayed port, it will slowly get to manifold vacum just sitting at Idle. now i need to get ported vacuum for my distro. on the pass side of the meetering block is a small hole but the end (inside) of the hole is filled, now if I remember correctly this should be the passage for the ported vacume. Why isn't it taped ? and can it be taped ? and how would I do this. I think this is the problem I'v been fighting with this carb. I need to get full ported vacuum ( 0 at Idle , vacuum when plates open ) please does anyone know the anwser to this riddle ?

Use the one on the bottom that slowly builds vacuum. Your throttle plates are open too far at an idle is why vacuum is slowly building.

Well I was finally able to get a hold of holley, they sugested drilling 2 holes in the throttle plates and acknolaged that some vacum would be present on the delayed port. i did a bit more searching and found an artical that recomended to go to manifold vacum becouse of the way gas is made now. I did and it finally gets the proper plug collor. its great, i have great power now and everthing, all I had read said to use the ported Vacum but now that im using manifold vacum everything fell into place, and as a added bonus i was able to drop 4 jet sizes, now running 72's at 12*BTDC, 10* in the distro, changed a spring in the mech advance so it's all in around 3,500 rpm, And it works great.
Good power, smooth, pipes sound and look good, and running cool. Finally!!!
