So after a year in the garage i decided to try and fire up my truck, i finally got it going, but there seems to be fuel shooting out of the fuel pump. There are 2 hoses going to the pump and then theres another hole where the fuel is shooting out....anyone have any idea why this is?
REplaced...guy at the auto parts store said thats how ya know they have a bad diaphram. I installed it but now it wont start. Dont know if theres more to it that just puttin that long "handle thingy" in the hole and puttin the bolts and hoses back in. Wonder if i dont have it in there right? The battery is dead now so i gotta wait forit to charge back up, when its charged ill just dc the output of the pump and see if it shoots fuel...it should right??
I could be that i dont have enough fuel as well i guess. Just put in 3 gallons but it might have been close to bone dry. Im gonna let the battery charge back up then add more fuel.
When you removed the old one and installed a new one you allowed fuel to go quite a ways back into the system, and now its full of air instead of gas, it will take some cranking to get gas back up to the carb (Im assuming its carbed?)
try priming it by dumping a half a teaspoon at a time in the top of the carb (NOT TOO MUCH AT ONCE) it stuttering for a few seconds moves the pump faster than cranking does....
