Question for you. You say you have an Edelbrock carb. Did you mount that to your stock Ford manifold?

Reason is, the Edelbrocks secondaries are larger than the primaries (although tech support insists its still a squarebore). My manifold has four equal size holes. Cant remember if they are the large ones or small ones. Need to know if the carb will mate up, or if I will need a four hole Quadrajet style adapter.

It is still a squarebore, they are right......

Yes you can mount it to your stock manifold, you need a spacer anyway, lots of people do it.

What Motor is this?

If it will mount right up to my stock 351W manifold, why would I need a spacer? Do I need a four hole "adapter"? I cant remember if my manifold has four small holes, or four big holes. I dont want the secondary throttle plates on the carb to interfere with the manifold holes.

Secondary question: How do I find a fuel hose that will connect to my stock 1/4 inch hard fuel line the the 3/8 fuel inlet.

You need a Spacer to keep the carb and subsequently, the fuel, cool. You dont want it sitting directly on the manifold, it gets too warm.

Yes, for a truck application you want a 4 hole spacer.

Thanks. I took the Holley off and checked the 4 hole gaskets against the Edelbrock. The primary holes on the gasket are too big for the primaries on the Edelbrock, and the secondary holes are just a tiny bit too small. Looks like im going to have to hunt for some Weber/Quadrajet four hole gaskets and adapters.

Really wish Edelbrock would make it a bit easier to match up their carbs to stock manifolds.

I mean, I spent a whole day searching this website, and everyone that put an Edelbrock carb on their 460's, or any 4 hole Ford manifold said it bolted right up. Well it wont, apparently. It looks like when I jam open the secondaries, they will interfere with the manifold. Oh, well. The search is on.

I have a 429, and an Edelbrock, it bolted right up......
I have a 302 and an edelbrock, it bolted right up.
My brother in law has a 390 and an edelbrock, it bolted right up....
He also has a 300-six and an edelbrock, and guess what, you got it

You dont need to go rushing around town looking for gaskets...... sounds like what you have is fine and your being too picky, leave the primary holes alone (how big is too big?) and cut the secondaries with a razor blade so they are right, its a gasket, unless its severely blocking fuel flow it isnt gonna do much for performance either way...

I am being too picky I guess. I guess I like things to line right up. Im just afraid that if the secondary throttle plates interfere with the gasket, then they will interfere with the heat plate and manifold holes. But I guess the carb will be sitting up a little further on top of the gaskets, etc..so the plates may not.

Take the carb with you when you buy a spacer, to make sure that doesnt happen. Have you tried Summit or somewhere to see if edelbrock makes one that is performer specific?

I used a 4 hole 1" spacer on mine. It fit the stock intake and my Edelbrock Performer. I just always use a 1" 4-hole spacer to keep heat off of the carb and for better throttle response.
