Just wondered if anyone else attended the (23rd) Shades of the Past Rod Run last weekend at Pigeon Forge. Tons of street rods, etc. from every era along with about 8 long rows of vendors.
I saw a number of F100s there, including that beautiful tangerine "Low Fat" truck, along with a nice 51/52? purple Mercury panel named "Canadian Graffiti".
The site was in that huge 50+acre "Smoky River Ranch" site off stoplight 1, past Music City hotel about 2/3 mile.
Not to start it up already, but that would be ideal site for the F100 show if they ever want to move it back home to the Forge. Huge grassy flat fields, with roads and a pavillion area.
If any of you can't make the Supernats in May, or want to go back for a really cool Sept. show, I would really recommend it, with all the day & night cruisin, hundreds of vehicles parked outside all the motels, etc. etc. I was told it's always the largest show of the year at PF.
Reminds me of the Supernats there, with one slight difference: all along the Parkway, right up there next to the sidewalk by the road, both sides, people would sit in and even leave them all 24 hours, their folding chairs, which added another level of "socialbility" to the event.
Took Mama to the Tanger outlets in Seiverville, and I was off to the show!
Plus, for you Olive Garden fans, they have a new across from those outlets, just opened in July.
Thanks Paul, I have been considering this run if my truck isn't ready for Knoxville. Haven't been to it in several years but always had a good time there. One of my friends won the give away truck there a few years ago.
ya i went to shades on friday i dont know if it was because it was friday but it seemed to me that there werent as many rods and people as normally i usually go on saturday that might be why i guess the gas prices kept a lot of people from going i agree the f-100 nats would look pretty good in that big field with f-100s lined up all over i was unable to make knoxville last year and this year due to work schedule but i did make nsra at k-town now thats a good one.
oh ya i forgot to mention that i wished that the shades had outlawed the tri fives 55-57 ch**ys cause another couple years they will try to take over!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amen to the tri five comments...those cars are everywhere!
I have to admit that I get bored at times looking at all the beautiful F100s, F1s, etc. at the Supernationals. That boredom is nothing compared to looking at the 55-57 Chevy cars...those owners just don't have much of an imagination, with such a high % looking stock.
Some said attendance was down at the show, but man is that a great location for a show!
It must be a real thrill to win a vehicle at one of these big shows. I can't even imagine how great that must be!
