1936 Ford 1.5 Ton Stake Beds

I am new to the forum and I have just purchased and received delivery of 2 1936 1.5 Ton Ford Stake Bed Trucks plus an extra flathead engine and tranmission just like the ones in the two trucks. One truck runs and the other does not. They are both in the original state. They have been in the Colorado high country and have only a little surface rust. I will need window glass for one of them. Are these available? I will have to get new oak for both truck beds. However, I am excited about restoring them. Any suggestions, lists of repro companies, parts would be appreciated.

I think that all the glass is plain flat glass so any auto glass place should be able to cut the windows for you. You may have to give them the old glass to use as a pattern or make one out of cardboard. Check out the reference thread, there is a world of information there. Take lots of pic's and post them. Good luck and have fun!!!!!

Thanks J

I currently live in Alaska and the trucks are at my farm on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I get down there about once every 90 days. However, I am going to retire there in 24 months. So, the trucks will be one of many hobbies. I plan on using one on the farm and it will be nice to go to Home Depot or Lowes for stuff and watch the reaction of the people. The man who transported the trucks from Colorado said that he received some many CB calls about the trucks that he was amazed. He also said that every time he stopped at a truck stop there were at least 5 or 6 guys inquiring whether they were for sale. At least I know how to sell one of them if I decide to.

You should look at Dick Cutting's website.Lots of great info and photos of his WORKING 36 Ford 1 1/2 ton and some other big trucks. He loads them with huge log loads. They are nicely restored and it looks like he has a good time with them....I have a 40 1 1/2 ton and a '29 AA 1 1/2 ton and they also get used in my woodworking business. www.cutsoldtrucks.com Gary

Replacement Glass

You should look at Dick Cutting's website.
Thanks for the comment on my site. I had replacement glass "Cut" (pardon the pun) at a local glass shop. It was cut from a cardboard pattern that I had carefully made. The glass fit real well. Just have to be careful when cleaning out the old glass from the channel.

We've had a great time using our older rigs but haven't been quite as active with them recently. In fact a few of the trucks shown are no longer owned. But I still have the '41 1½Ton stake truck and the '41 M&H plus a couple of Chevys. Also still have a couple of '46 1½Tons that are looking for a home.

Well I haven't welcomed you to FTE so here's a slightly late Welcome to FTE! A few of the larger repo companies I can think of is macs auto parts, dennis Carpender, and what used to be absolete Ford parts. www.macsautoparts.com www.dennis-carpenter.com www.classicautoparts.com

Anyways, hope that you enjoy FTE and visit here often with questions of just to chat. Good luck!
