Best Intake Manifold

What is a good intake manifold you can buy for an 1987 F-150 with a 5.0L EFI? But keep in mind I don't want to bust the bank on it, I have to buy other parts because I'm rebuilding the motor.

Cobra,Edelbrock performer,GT40,Trickflow street heat are all great lower rpm efi intakes. The Gt40 is probally the easiest of the bunch to find cheap they came on late 90s Ford Explorer's.

Unless you're going to convert the EFI system to "mass air", or reprogram the SD computer, you're pretty much stuck with the truck upper and lower.( ditto for other performance upgrades as well) Otherwise, Edelbrock makes uppers and larger throttle body's to upgrade the truck setup. Some of the one's built for cars, use the truck lower also.

That statement is totally wrong speed density doesn't care about airflow it only cares about vacumn and an intake won't affect that.I've been running a ported Gt40 intake,Comps XE264HR cam,and a set of AFR 185s for years on a stock speed density system.

Just swapping intakes also isn't going to do squat either. To take advantage of it he'll need to upgrade heads, cam, headers.etc. Which you obviously have done also. And the aftermarket intakes are designed to change the airflow characteristics, moving power band to the upper rpms, so in effect they DO affect the SD system. You likely have gone to larger injectors with that setup too, but I guess you left that part of the equation out ?

I call BS on this one. Changing intakes will help some without any other changes...more than you think. Although with other mods, it will help even more, but just an intake will help quite a bit. Headers would be a better help by themselves than an intake tho.

I ran my 13.9s(With the mods i listed) on the stock 19# injectors with no tuning devise. The intake will get him horsepower the stocker sucks. The intakes i listed are all designed to work in the idle to 5500 rpm range lots guys swap intakes without swapping the other components and pick up horsepower. The better flowing intake will make more use of future mods if he does decide to swap heads, cams, etc.

Thanks Guys, that alot of info. I do plan to change headers and heads. I already have a set of hooker long tube headers, and I'm trying to find some gt-40s. Aluminum would be nice but to expensive, so i guess ill settle for the iron heads. So what do yall think of my horespower numbers will be with these mods:
1. New Upper and Lower Intake (dont know what kind yet)
2. Gt-40 heads
3. Hooker Headers
4. New Cam (slightly dif. still scoping them out but nit to drastic)
5. Mac Intake
6. Bassani Y-Pipe
7. Borla Cat Back
8. Larger Injectors (or do i need to leave them alone?)

I'm running the Edelbrock truck 5.0 EFI intake and can tell you it made a huge difference in the way my truck runs but I'm running a full exhaust system with shorty headers so I'm sure that helped enhance the performance of the intake.

I'd leave the injectors alone.Hard to guess what the horsepower would look without knowing the intake manifold and cam.

I would expect in the neighborhood of ~300 hp at the flywheel...maybe a hair more. 24lb injectors would probably be a good idea, but you'll likely need to convert to mass air or get a custom chip.
