I have a 2002 ranger with the stock am/fm and single cd player...is there a ford amp that I can buy that will basically just plug into this set up? The way it is now sounds like crap, but I'm not a huge stereo buff, if I could just improve the sound a little bit I would be happy, and I'm looking for the easiest way to do it. If there is one, a number would be nice, if possible
No, the factory amp systems used a different radio. Would be much easier to install aftermarket amp. First, have you replaced the speakers with aftermarket? If not, try that first.

thanks for any help!
Generally speaking, amplifying a system that sounds like crap, as you say, will only amplify all the weaknesses already there. There is no hidden sound quality in the stock speakers waiting to be "busted out". And the stock speakers aren't designed for withstanding a lot of power. So there are lots of reasons to NOT use them. And, even if you could make one work in your case, dollar for dollar, you can't buy a Ford amp that is worth a crap(pun intended), when compared to what is available in the aftermarket.
