Replacing LLS with new lift system??

Anyone know an approximate cost on replacing the all 4 corner LLS system with shocks and springs? I am looking to raise to about 4 inches or so and can't find a system to accomidate the LLS, so I have decided to take it all out and just replace it with another system. Anyone done this? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks for the help.

John

replacing lls

I just replaced mine this week on a 1998. Go to Strutmasters web site to get rear coil springs. Trying to get them from Ford takes forever .Strutmasters is also about $125.00 cheaper. I used Monroe load leverler # 58633 on the rear as I tow quite a bit. Put Gabrial G60259 (23 inch) on the front.Total cost for parts approx $500.00. My Expy no longer looks like a low rider. Up about 4-5 inches. Also handles a lot better after alignment and T-bar adj. I think due to more tire contact in front. Figure 6-8 hours to install. Hopes this helps

Thank you. I am assuming you had 4 corner LLS, ?? Just wondering if threre was anything special you had to do to the front or rear to accomidate a change in the system. Sounds pretty easy, and cheap! Thanks for the imput.

I did have the 4 corner LLS. After 2 pump failures I decided it was time for it to go. Did not have to do anything special. Rear bag removal is simple. If your rear shocks are ok ,no need to replace. Front air shock removal is a bit of a pain but not bad. Unplug pump located under washer fluid container and you are all set. The conversion should give you the height you are looking for.

Question. Where did you get the Monroes and Gabrials, I can't seem to find a match to the part numbers on their web sites. Let me see if I got this right, you just replaced the rear airbags with coils and load leveling shocks??? Where these a 4 inch version to lift the truck or were they stock replacements?

The front, you just replaces the existing air shock with a 23" shock?? and only this gave you a 4" lift from stock? I just want to make sure I am on the right direction before I start buying anything. I want to clear 35" tires and want to make sure this will work.

Also, is your truck all time 4wd? I have heard that conversions in the driveshaft need to be made for a lift.?? any thoughts..??

Thanks again for your help.

On the Monroe site select a non air ride Expy for part #. For some reason the Gabrial site does not come up with the shock I used. What I used on the rear was a stock replacement . The front was sized to match the rear. My 98 EB has 17 inch tires. Just doing the replacement raised the vechicle appox 4 inches over the way it sat with the LLS. My truck is not full time AWD. I have selector for 2wd, awd & 4wd. I do not have a lift kit and have no knowledge on what needs to be done to install one . I made no mods to the drive train.
