Just purchased my first Expedition. 2001 Eddie Bauer. I love it so far. In test driving a few of these i noticed the system in this one is not as "good" as some of the others i drove. It has the mach sound system, 6cd changer, integrated sub in rear. My sub does not work. Where do i start in trouble shooting? Is there a switch somewhere to manually turn the amp off? Is there a fuse that controls that amp/sub? Any help would be greatly appreciated as we leave at 4:00 am for vacation!
my guess is that the sub is just blown and the previous owner disconnect it, subs frequently blow in the expeditions (mine did and everyone always complains about them). To check if the amp is unplugged just pull out the cupholder in the third row (passenger side) and you should see the amp and where the connection goes in, dont know if this helps because if its unplugged its probably blown and will sound horrible.
Mine was blown but the dealer replaced it as part of the used car inspection. They are curently backordered and have been for months. I would either find a used one on Ebay or find a decent aftermarket replacement. The factory unit is very expensive because it includes the enclosure and amp.
Reading the threads about the sub being blown and how bad the system sounds is making me believe mine is blown. The Mach system sounds crappy in my 01. I'll be checking the sub tonight when I get home.
In the 4 years since this thread was posted they have made a separate speaker avaliable from Ford. Its a lot cheaper than the whole module if still avaliable.

Just go to your dealer parts department and ask. I dont have the part number anymore. I posted it in an old thread somewhere that you might find with a search.
