I have a 2001 Expedition with the factory tow package, I am looking for a ball mount reciever hitch to go in it. Does anyone know the manufacturer of the factory hitch ? I would like to get one from them because the fit is usually better getting them from the same manufacturer. I know yoy can get Reese, Drawtite, etc but looking for a good fit. I also know they have ones you can tighten in there as to prvide no slop but did not want to get that fancy. I tow 3000 # max so I do not need anything to heavy duty. Thanks in advance for all comments.
I bought a Reese brand and it fit really well, It was a universal, so the instructions described the way to make it work on my truck. It fit and does not affect spare.
Thanks for the reply, and maybe my first post is confusing but the factory hitch is already on the truck. I am looking for the part that goes into the 2" square hole. I will remove it when not in use because my wife bangs her legs on it and up here in Buffalo NY one winter and they re rusted in there like you would not believe.
Any brand of 2" reciever hitch will work well. Just remember.... you get what you pay for... saving a few bucks doesn't mean you got the best deal. I bought mine from Tractor supply company. I use it to tow a utility trailer that I have loaded to over 5000 lbs! No problems what-so-ever. It was around $30 just for the head and then the ball was seperate. It has a 2" drop on it so my trailer rides nice and level... I have a 4x4 so I needed it. You may get away with less drop if yours is 2WD.
