98 Ranger and want to install 2002-03 Ford Side Bars?
I want to order from the dealer Ford's chrome plated Alum. side bars, step bars, side tubs (whatever you call them). However, the booklet states that they only fit 2003 up. I sware I have seen a thread on this. I did a search with no luck. I have 1998 4 door Ranger with the long bed. Any help?

For what it is worth, I wanted to install 2003 step bars (factory) on my '99 X-cab ranger short bed and I called the local dealer to ask if they would directly bolt up. His response was, not with out modification.

I cannot beleive someone has done this before. The factory chrome Alum. bars are so nice. I would love to get them. I can't beleive they could that hard to install. But for I just nned to know before I spend $350.00 for them.

Here's a thought. Go to your local Ford dealership and find a new ranger with the steps on it. Try to find a nice enough salesperson to pull the new ranger next to yours and just compare underneath yourself. Look where it mounts. Should be able to figure it out.

What about aftermarket? SmittyBuilt is pretty good about making bars for less common models. Even if you don't find a set for your specific model you could probably get a set for a shortbed supercab and only have to drill for the rear mount.
