Help? Carb. or EFI?

Hi guys, I recently joined in. I own a 1992 Ford Bronco 2WD A/T with a 300 cid inline 6 cyl. engine - carbureted. Fuel Mileage is rather poor and performance is just about average. I am looking to increase fuel economy as well as performance. EFI conversion kits cost about as much as the whole rebuilt engine!, but, would they increase economy and power significantly to justify the investment?, or what do you suggest?, how about Weber carbs? headers?. I live in a place where the altitude (above sea level) is 8000 ft and have to drive through steep hill roads which my truck barely overcomes. What about the new Holley Truck Avenger carb?. Clifford Performance recommends 2 bbl carbs for my application, but I'm all ears for your advice, thank you...!

1992? If you can find parts of a stock 92 bronco, then you'd have EFI easy. All 300's were EFI from '87 on.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, the ideal thing would be to find the stock EFI setup for my truck. Yet, I have the Venezuelan version (I live in Colombia) of the 2WD Bronco which came with the Carter 1bbl carburetor instead of MPFI, as in the american version. The problem is that a remanufactured 300 cid engine costs about $1.400 which is pretty much the cost of a universal TBI EFI kit. I´ll probably have to look in a junk yard to find the parts I need.

Ah, I see. The junkyard might be least expensive option down there in Columbia.

Junkyard will work well, just rip everything off....MAF, harnesses, computer, fuel rail...good gosh its a long list, but it all would be readily available here
